In January of 2009, NLA Diagnostics LLC was formally established in the United States of America. NLA Diagnostics was created to license and develop technology for the application of non-linear acoustic sound waves and resonance spectra analysis to identify stresses, defects and cracks in aircraft composite components, and concrete.

W. Richard (Rick) Webster

W. Richard (Rick) Webster serves as Chief Executive Officer and Principal. Mr. Webster is responsible for company operations and management as well as executive functions.

Prior to founding NLA Diagnostics, Mr. Webster spent 32 years in the financial industry, moving from individual sales to the position of Senior Vice President, Treasurer and member of the Board for a large regional insurance broker. In 1986 Rick was recruited to the public sector to join Alexander & Alexander as a Regional Manager and Vice President. In 1994 he was offered the position of Senior Vice President and National Sales Leader for the Executive Benefits division of Johnson & Higgins. Following the acquisition of J&H by Marsh & McLennan, Mr. Webster was placed in charge of the southern region and subsequently assumed the role of National Practice Leader until his retirement from the firm in 2006.

Mr. Webster served in the military for 22 years, with five years of active duty service in the U.S. Marine Corps and seventeen years in the reserves and National Guard. The service in the Marine Corps included responsibilities as a helicopter pilot (CH-46 and CH-53), Instructor Pilot and Legal Officer. Service in the Pennsylvania National Guard included responsibilities as a helicopter pilot (UH-1 and OH-6), and Battalion Intelligence Officer, retiring with the rank of Major.

Mr. Webster holds a Master of Science in Financial Services from the American College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Drexel University. Email Rick.


William (Bill) M. Choate

William (Bill) M. Choate serves as Managing Director, Global Development for NLA Diagnostics since September 2009.

Mr. Choate has over 36 years of experience in the financial market place beginning with the formation of his own brokerage firm, Brown & Choate. After the sale of his firm to Johnson & Higgins in 1982, he was named President of Johnson & Higgins Carolinas, Inc. in 1993 and in 1995 was named Managing Principal of Johnson & Higgins, Inc. Following the merger of Johnson & Higgins and Marsh & McLennan in 1997 Mr. Choate was named Managing Director and Southeast Region Head for Marsh, Inc. His role was expanded in 2001 when he was named Head of the South Region and continued in that role until he was promoted to head of Global Risk & Insurance Services in 2004. He was named to the Marsh, Inc. Board of Directors and appointed an MMC Partner in 2004.

From 2005 until 2007 Mr. Choate served as Managing Director for Wachovia Insurances, now Wells Fargo, in various senior capacities and in May 2007 joined AON Corporation as Executive Vice President and was member of the AON US Retail Executive Committee and the Commercial Risk Offices Implementation Advisory Board.

Mr. Choate has served on numerous community boards of directors and recently completed a term on the Board of Trustees for the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Email Bill.

Aldo Bellotti

Aldo Bellotti serves as the Director of Engineering.

Mr. Bellotti has 27 years of experience in the development, integration, design validation, and test of infrared and electro-optical systems. His areas of expertise include research into new products, product requirements definition, product development, circuit design, integration, manufacturing and field testing, program planning, optical measurements, and automated test stations for infrared and electro optical systems. Early in his career, he worked as Senior Principal Systems Engineer for General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products; Manufacturing Test Manager for General Dynamics/Intellitec/Brunswick Defense; and Test Engineer for Harris Corporation.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York, a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a Graduate Certificate in Systems Engineering and Architecting from the Stevens Institute of Technology. Email Aldo.


Nathan White

Nathan White serves as Senior Project Engineer at NLA Diagnostics and has been with the company since August 2012.

Nathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology from Western Carolina University with a minor in Mathematics. Prior to joining NLAD, he completed an internship at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, performing electronic hardware design and analysis to improve cathode data examination of an X-ray polarimeter. Nathan gained additional experience in research and design while developing an interactive system for amplifying indoor cell phone signals. Email Nathan.

Sam Shue

Sam Shue serves as an Embedded Systems Engineer at NLA Diagnostics.

Sam holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, studying robotics and related technologies. While earning his Ph.D., Sam worked as an embedded systems consultant for various small companies and participated in a variety of research projects at the university, involving solar panel monitoring using wireless sensor networks, dark matter concentration detection from gravitational lensing, and robotic localization through estimated distances to wireless access points. He is also an active member of IEEE and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. Sam also serves as an Adjunct Professor at UNCC teaching introductory computer engineering courses. Email Sam.
